A trip up the river....

I think perhaps the negative term 'up the river' came from someone who has ridden the barges of Egypt "up the river" and gotten off at an island that is advertised as entertainment for children, clean open areas with grass......

I'm not sure there is anything true in the advertisement. Except the word "open"

This is not a nice posting. BEWARE!

"Open" to freaks who take children and pass them back and forth and have to be aggressively removed by their parents.

"Open" to destroy everything beautiful the English once built for the Egyptians to create a holiday spot.

"Open" to beat horses and starve them and leave their dead carcasses alongside the road with the garbage.

"Open" to kids under 12 racing motorcycles on the streets w/o helmets or watching for horses or pedestrians

"Open" to interpretation...
when it says it leaves at 9, it doesn't leave until 11...but they are open to tell you every 30 min that it'll leave in 30 min.

"Open" to harrassment by unmarried men and no escape.

"Open" to walking in 102 degrees without hope of finding extra water or a bathroom...with a backpack, carrying a little girl and convincing a son to keep pressing on....

"Open" to pooping in a 'room' and leaving it where it lays - hoping it hits the small hole in the ground...holding your son over one to poop and your daughter over on to pee.

"Open" to touching me, pulling my camera away slowly on a bench...OPEN TO BEING YELLED AT BY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEN the opportunity to repeat the 2.5 hr trip home and repeat.....I was "open" to push my way off the barge when it docked, the kids and I were 2 blocks away before Rob called wondering where we were!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are a couple interesting photos.

**NEEEEEEVER TAKE THE BARGES IN CAIRO!**

NEVER EVER EVER!!

NEVER GO TO THE ISLAND NEAR THE NILE RIVER DELTA! you'd be better off to slit your wrists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The great thing about today was that IT ENDED! oh and that Jonathan, Sarah and family are WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The clothes have been thru the wash machine twice now from today - PUKE! pizza is on its way, my asthma is acting up - I haven't had this much trouble since Michigan! That place is CURSED!

ok, so maybe that is a harsh evaluation, to say it's cursed...but trust me...

DO

NOT

GO!

This photo was taken 20 min after we got on the barge....I should've taken an after shot of my disshelved hair, scrunched up angry face with red skin and a shirt so wet I could WRING IT OUT! and my kids whining and begging for it to end
