Ain Sokhna Vacation Spot

2 Hours Southeast of Cairo, along the Red Sea.....

blissful!!! I read an entire book (Unlocked by K Kingsbury - must tell you that I got so upset at one pt I threw the book down, didn't even mark my spot - READ IT! really a great read, as are all her books!) THANKS MOM AND DAD FOR THAT VACATION TREAT!! it came JUST in time!!!

We had planned to go away for 3 days over Rob's birthday at Thanksgiving.....but it is an Islamic holy time here right now (in observance of Allah sparing Ibrahim from having to sacrifice his son Ishmael)...so Rob's bosses actually bugged out on LONG treks and left the pilots to be home. Then they leave on Rob's birthday...so...we just decided to LEAVE! we'd been sick.....we were still reeling from saying good bye to Gpa Bob and feeling a bit sentimental about no seasonal change.....and no water for 5 days.....it was PERFECT!

the temps, the sun, the water, the sand, the people, the non-sleezey atmosphere (Sharm is very "sin city" ish bleck!)...

REALLY NICE!!!!!!!! I just can't find words to put it together! We hired a car/driver to take us and to pick us up. We arrived at noon, had a picnic lunch and spent 4 hrs on the beach! Yesterday we spent 9 hrs on the beach and today another 5!! WONDERFUL! just "to be"!!! We played, we splashed, we ate AMAZING EGYPTIAN FOOD! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! and sunk our toes in SOFT sand, we repeated every night for a least an hour crab hunting!! We didn't actually "acquire" any beyond sightseeing ;) ha!

I think we may have brought home 1 million shells...ok maybe only 100...but it seems excessive! HA! I plan to make 3 photo frames - one for the living room, one for each bedroom, of our time together - place shells/coral all around!

no worries, the coral was in the sand....we weren't on a reef poaching it!

The kids are SO tired, they were BEGGING to go to bed at 4pm when we got home! HA! So they're in front of the tv, completely zoned out while I make supper and clean up the 2 gallons of sand from pockets and swim suits ;) Well, keep looking! Pictures now follow! I hope you will enjoy!! and nope...no one got sun burned! but we did get chilly off and on! ha ha! we're acclimating!

simple pleasures

giggling morning buddies - the sand is SO cold in the morning, that the water feels VERY warm! but then as the sand warms up...it feels like Lake Michigan actually...except the sun here is ALWAYS so VERY intense! This was at 8 am today....

Breakfast and Suppers (mmmmmm already miss them!!) obviously this was during an electricity outtage! ha! and it was about 7 am...WAY too early for anyone but us to be up, I think! Mmmmmmm crepes with fresh local honey.......fresh graded potatoes made with some type of stinky cheese MMMM!! MISS IT!!

We must've spent half the time making elaborate (more like "attempting to make") elaborate cities complete with running water! ha! I only got this one photographed tho.

Jasmine grew a LOT on this trip!! I'm not sure if ANY of her pants will fit now!

Lunch under the cabana. This was just before we left today. I love the Europeans in their sundresses in the shade - ha! Us Egyptians in our bit warmer gear! hee hee!!
